The Brisbane Riverstage, Brisbane, Australia.

15 December 2007.

"WHAT A NIGHT!!!"

Forty three years since Graham Nash and the webmaster last met at the Kings Hall, Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, UK.

This show was to be something spedcial to the webmaster of this site and the seven other guests of Graham
who accompanied him and met Graham after the show, but more about that later!

The show started on a balmy Brisbane summer night with three great artists walking on stage to raptuous applause
from a massive Brisbane crowd who had patiently waited since 28 February to see the legendary
Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Sadly the original show had to be cancelled due to the ill health of David Crosby, BUT THE WAIT WAS WORTH IT!

I will not list the 'Set List' as I could not even think or see anything except what was happening on stage.
The first breather the crowd got was when the first set concluded and the wonderful trio trouped off for a
well deserved breather and I trust some liquid refreshment.

The second set was to outshine the first with some fantastic vocal Crosby Nash harmonuies and thrilling
vintageguitar work from Stephen, who was really on top of his act and thrilling the crowd moving from one
side of the stage to the other like a youngster and casting his used guitar picks into the eagerly waiting
hands of his clamouring, excited and enthralled fans. This truly was Stills at his superlative best.

One amusing incident occured during the groups encore when some excited young lady threw her bra, yes her
bra towards Graham, who remarked, "Now that is a first" much to the amusement of an appreciative
Brisbane crowd. The bra was placed on his mic stand by Graham and remained on display until the show ended
to a rousing standing ovation for the great Crosby, Stills and Nash.

After the crowd had mainly dispersed Graham appeared to greet his guests and with sincere pleasure he greeted
one and all and signed the obligatory autographs and posed with his guests for photographs.

Graham handed a package of photographs to the webmaster which he had brought with him as the webmaster had
moved house recently and they had been returned to Graham. Terrific gesture from a caring human being.

A longer chat was had between Graham and the webmaster who during the conversation mentioned that Graham had
ever mentioned the fact that they were both born in tyhe same room in Blacvkpool, three months apart. Graham
was genuinely surprised as he had obviously never received the webmasters email about this fact. The moral
here is not to trust email communication. Graham's son was with the 'crew' and the webmaster was duly introduced
to Will as were the webmasters son's Karl and Duncan.

The webmaster was introduced to 'Coach' and Graham gleefully informed him that both he and the webmaster were both
born in the same room of the Kimberley Hotel, South Shore, Blackpool.

Graham was catching an early flight home the following morning so had to reluctantly excuse himself and shortly
after said goodbye individually to his guests and a special hug for the webmaster.

The webmqaster had promised and taken a bottle of vintage Aussie Red but could not get it into the venue, no doubt
due to the security restrictions, BUT he did take it to Graham's hotel. Graham acknowledged receipt of this small
gift after arriving back in the USA, saying, "Thanks for the great wine."

COME BACK SOON GRAHAM.

FRIENDSHIP

I heard tell of two sons of Salford
A pair of talented lads
They were born in The ’Kimberley’ at Blackpool
When a world-war had borrowed their dads!

The wives were sent off to Blackpool
To escape from the Luftwaffe’s lot
They would have stayed home to thwart Adolf
If not for the babe they’d begot!

Dame Destiny shone on each baby
And caressing one cherubic head
She sprinkled the new child with sea-spray
"You are destined to travel" she said.

When babe number two arrived in this world
With a cry that rang clear as a bell
"You" said the Dame "are destined for fame
With a vocal like that - I can tell."

Boy Garnett grew-up sort of restless
A bit of a rebel was he
Father said: "I know your cure"
"It’s a life in the navy for thee."

Boy Nash became a musician
Composer and songs was his thing
He rocked and he rolled in the sixties
When Britain was starting to swing!

You must have heard tell of ’The Hollies’
With a string of hits to their name
Graham Nash was in part instrumental
In helping the group rise to fame.

One night in the sixties, fate took a hand
And Graham and Brian first met
They appeared at the same music venue
On a night they will never forget.

As time has a habit of doing
The years rocked-on and rolled-by
Six-decades elapsed from those days by the sea
And the sound of a babe’s lusty cry.

In the year two-thousand-and-seven
When the ’lads’ had matured and were men
At a concert at Brisbane, Australia
The friends were united again.

When the Brisbane concert concluded
Side by side the two friends stood
Two ’lads’ born in far away Blackpool
By ’eck those babes had ’come good’.

The Authorized Graham Nash Site was advised on February 6, 2007.

Management for the legendary rock trio Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN) regrettably announced today
that they are forced to postpone the group’s tour of Australia and New Zealand that was to have kicked off
on February 17 in Perth, Australia. The itinerary originally included nine dates at major venues, with the
tour closer to have taken place on March 4 in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The action was taken because of medical issues that have arisen for member David Crosby.
On behalf of CSN, manager Donald Miller said, “We deeply regret that the band will not be
able to embark on this tour as scheduled. David, Stephen and Graham send their best wishes
to all their loyal fans in Australia and New Zealand.

At this time, we thank you for your understanding and the band looks forward to seeing you this fall.”

New Crosby Stills and Nash CD

THE GREATEST HITS OF CROSBY, STILLS & NASH'S EXTRAORDINARY CAREER COLLECTED ON ONE DISC

Features 19 CSN Classics

Available March 15, 2005

CSN Greatest Hits CD Cover

LOS ANGELES -- Since their original formation, Crosby, Stills & Nash have become one of the most successful and influential groups in rock history.  With such timeless hits as "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" and "Teach Your Children," the multiple Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees' music has spawned scores of contemporary singer/songwriters.

Now, CSN's impact on both music history and the pop charts is reflected on one disc -- CROSBY, STILLS & NASH: GREATEST HITS. Book-ended by the glorious three-part harmony of "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" and the immaculate vocal work of "Daylight Again," GREATEST HITS features 19 of the finest songs recorded by this enduring trio, including "Helplessly Hoping," "Wooden Ships," and "Wasted On The Way."

GREATEST HITS (Rhino/Atlantic) -- jam-packed at nearly 80 minutes and featuring liner notes written by noted journalist Steve Silberman -- will be available March 15 at all retail outlets and at www.rhino.com for a suggested retail price of $18.98.

When Crosby, Stills & Nash formed in Los Angeles, they were instantly dubbed a supergroup, as the band's three members originated from some of the biggest acts of the era -- David Crosby from The Byrds, Stephen Stills from Buffalo Springfield, and Graham Nash from The Hollies.

CSN's self-titled debut -- released just three months before their memorable set at Woodstock -- became one of the biggest and most important rock records ever recorded, with its gorgeous three-part harmonies lifting the group to the pinnacle of the budding singer/songwriter movement. Seven unforgettable tracks from Crosby, Stills & Nash appear on GREATEST HITS, which also culls a trio of tracks from the group's follow-up effort, the No. 1 album Deja Vu.

Very Sad news indeed to hear of the passing of Carl Wayne front man for The Hollies on 31/8/04.  Carl was recruited after the retirement of Allan Clarke after a successful career with The Move.  Carl had been sick for some time, nonetheless news of his passing was received with much sadness and shock.

Graham and the webmaster of this site received the sad news today and wish to pass on our sincere condolences to Carl's family and the members of The Hollies for whom Carl will be sadly missed.

Carl gave much enjoyment to many fans of all ages for many years.  You will certainly be missed in the world of music.

Rest in Peace Carl.

Crosby & Nash, New Album.

"Photographs supplied and article written by, and reprinted with the kind permission of, Buzz Person"

It's been almost thirty years since venerable rock legends David Crosby and Graham Nash entered the studios to record the last of their three album endeavours as a duo (Whistling Down The Wire) in 1976. A recent visit to a Los Angeles studio this January found these two gentlemen of Rock and Roll hard at work on their yet to be named new album that will be released later this year.

The scene is much different that it was back in the Golden Days of Rock and Roll. Gone are the bulky multi-track tape machines and equipment that went with them. Instead, one finds the hardware of the Digital Age, computers that are loaded with the latest digital sound recording software ready to record, for perpetuity, every sound and nuance of the session.

The studio band for this project is a hybrid of old and new friends. Crosby and Nash have surrounded themselves with some of the most talented musicians they have come across during their combined 80 years of experience in the business. Russell Kunkel, drummer from their 70's endeavours, and his son Nathanial (Nate), have been chosen as the co-producers of the new album. Russ is also manning the percussion in the new sessions and Nate (one of the most talented new engineers/producers in the industry) is doing the engineering, Pro-tooling this record directly to hard drive.

Graham critiques in studio.

Photo Buzz Person.

Also from the "Wind on The Water" days is Leland (Lee) Sklar on bass, who along with Kunkel formed part of one of the greatest instrumental and session bands, The Section. Lee has appeared on over two thousand studio albums and has played on hits of some of the greatest - including hits by Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Hall & Oates, Jackson Browne Phil Collins as well as David and Graham.

Lead guitarist Dean Parks is familiar to many C&N fans from his presence on Graham's 2002 tour in support of Nash's solo CD Songs for Survivors. Dean's guitar work is well known since his 70's appearance as a session guitarist with Steely Dan, and is listed on Allmusic with more than 800 album credits. Dean has also been active in the film industry and recently worked with Randy Newman on the sound track of the 2003 film "Seabiscuit."

The other lead guitar is none other than Jeff Pevar, familiar to fans as the "P" of Crosby Pevar and Raymond. Jeff's abilities are well known to all. He was particularly excited on this day in Los Angeles as he told of a tune that he and Graham had been "fooling" around with for years, called "Jesus of Rio," that has finally come together for the new album.

Graham hitting a high note.

On keyboards is James Raymond - "an amazing talent" as proud father David Crosby describes him. Raymond is lending his writing talent to the new record as well as attending yeomen duties on all forms of keyboards. On this afternoon, he was adding some tracks to a beautiful new piece of his on a vintage pump organ.

The excitement in the room was abundant. It is evident that as each of these guys talk about the amazing talent of each of the other guys that they believe they are on to something really special. You could see it in their smiles. They were relaxed, yet intense. The reality of creation is abounding in the room as they apply their skills to their new work of beauty.

Crosby, Stills and Dr Nash?

Graham Nash Signs his book for Graham Baker

Story received by email via UK private resource.

Photo of two Grahams during Graham Nash's recent U.K Book signing tour.

Graham Nash is the latest rock star to become a doctor. This weekend, the Crosby Stills and Nash star will be awarded the Otis College of Art and Design's 2004 Honorary Doctorate Degree at the College's Goldsmith campus on Saturday, May 8.

Nash is being honoured with the doctorate not for music but for his knowledge of digital photography. Nash is considered a pioneer of digital imaging and an avid collector.

He is the co-founder of Nash Editions, the world's first museum-quality, digital fine arts press. The company has produced many multimedia projects combining art with technology.

"Mr. Nash embodies the College's belief that tomorrow will be led by creative, flexible thinkers who understand the convergence among media, technology, communication, and design," Otis President Samuel C. Hoi commented in a statement.

Nash is also about to release a photography book titled 'Eye to Eye" featuring his photographs taken between 1969 and 2003.

This Site extends hearty congratulations to Graham on attaining this high honour.

Dear Music Lover.

We are a group of music lovers who believe that for far too long The Hollies have been overlooked by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and that their induction should have taken place years ago. We have formed to mount a campaign to accomplish that and believe that, with your help, it can be done. So what/how is this Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame?  Leaders in the music industry joined together in 1983 to establish the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. One of the Foundation's many functions is to recognize the contributions of those who have had a significant impact on the evolution, development and perpetuation of rock and roll by inducting them into the Hall of Fame. Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artist's contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll. The Foundation's nominating committee, composed of rock and roll historians, selects nominees each year in the Performer category. Ballots are then sent to an international voting body of about 1,000 rock experts. Those performers who receive the highest number of votes, and more than 50 percent of the vote, are inducted. The Foundation generally inducts five to seven performers each year.

Visit http://www.rockhall.com/

There are a couple things we would like you to do to help out.  First, we have set up a petition for you to fill out which, in a few months, we will submit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. Our goal is to find 10,000 people who will support this cause so if you have any friends who you think would be supportive, please forward the link below to them. In the meantime, go to the following link and fill in the information:

http://www.suitelorraine.com/suitelorraine/Pages/hollieshofpetition.html

If that link is too long, try this
http://tinyurl.com/2wg7v

Another thing you can do, which is going to take a moment on your part, is to send a letter to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, urging that The Hollies be inducted. As they do not have an email address for such endeavours, it will take a letter by regular (snail) mail. We have framed a couple of sample letters which are also posted on the link above. Any of them are but we would suggest that if all possible, you write your own, or at least make some alterations to the sample letters so it appears as if the support is coming from several corners of the world and is widespread.

Thirdly, If you have friends who might be inclined to cast a vote in favour but might not be on anyone's list, perhaps you could forward the letter to them, urging their support.

Fourthly, if you have a website that and could post a link to the sign-up page, it would be greatly appreciated.

Finally, if you really want to get behind this project, we urge you to write individual letters to the Nominating Board.  A list, with addresses will be provided on the link.

Please take a moment from your busy time and help us with this important project.

Thank you very much,

 "We" being:-
Graham Baker, Buzz Person, Lorraine Kaczorowski, Paul Higham, Mark Whiteand & Peter Doggett

The Webmaster of this site fully supports this action to see justice is done and one of the finest Rock & Roll groups of all time arte rightfully inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and encourages all true fans of Rock & Roll to aid this project.

It is a well known fact that Graham Nash was a foundation member of the sixties rock phenomenon The Hollies.  Recently The Hollies celebrated 40 years in the music industry with yet another United Kingdom Tour.  Our roving reporter Christine Wilson has compiled a 'report' on a number of shows and provided us with numerous photographs of the present day Hollies.  It is therefore with great pleasure that I add a 'new' page to this site.  Please click on the text link below to read Christine's report and view her photographs.
